Trevor got out of the car and stared at the most beautiful two-story cabin he’d ever seen. But it was the perfectly built man standing on the front porch that gave him pause. Strength bled from every pore of his body.

“That’s Max,” Jordan said as he took Trevor’s hand.

Max was intimidating to look at. He had broad shoulders that tapered down to narrow hips. His aura screamed “badass.” The man had spiky hair, stubble on his face, and the eyes of a cat. They were greenish amber and watching Trevor closely.

“Max, this is Trevor,” Jordan introduced.

Domingo headed into the house, just as silent as he had been on the jet. Trevor still hadn’t figured the guy out, but knew he had other, more pressing worries.

Like Max—who looked as if he could crush Trevor with his bare hands. But hadn’t Domingo looked the same way?

“Hi,” Trevor said, feeling out of his depth. He was in shifter territory. From what Brad had told him, no human had ever set foot on shifter land.

“Welcome,” Max said. “Come inside, Trevor. You must be exhausted and hungry.”

That he was. The jet ride and traveling through these forests had taken their toll on Trevor. He was ready to lie down somewhere and close his eyes. His stomach was rumbling something fierce.

Jordan led him into an impressive kitchen where he grabbed a tray of fruit and cheeses from the fridge, setting it on the counter before pulling a chair out for Trevor.

Taking a seat, Trevor tore into the food. He hadn’t eaten since…when was the last time he’d eaten, three days ago? No wonder he was feeling like crap.

“How did the meetings go?” Max asked Jordan. Trevor thanked Jordan when the man set a large glass of juice down in front of him.

“We secured the Cambridge account,” Jordan replied. “But Stanford wants a few things in the contract changed. I don’t see a problem with his demands.”

Trevor was waiting for the two men to discuss what happened in Hawaii, but neither man brought up the kidnappers or the danger they had been in.

“I’ll have Trey call Stanford and rework the contract,” Max said as his eyes slid to Trevor. “I think you deserve some time off.”

Trevor drank his juice down as his eyes flickered between the two.

“Thanks,” Jordan said. “I’m going to need it.”

The two passed a look and Trevor wondered what that was about.

“I’ll send Devyn to your room so he can look Trevor over,” Max said as he headed out of the kitchen.

“Who’s Devyn?” Trevor asked before shoving a juicy slice of orange into his mouth. The citrus taste burst on his tongue, almost making Trevor moan in pleasure. Either he was near starvation, or this was the best damn fruit he’d ever tasted.

“Our clan doctor.” Jordan refilled Trevor’s glass. “He’ll just look you over and make sure you’re okay.”

Trevor lifted the glass to his lips and froze. A slim guy waddled into the kitchen, heading toward the fridge. Either the guy was pregnant, or he’d swallowed a pumpkin.
